A Home That Reflects My Soul.
November 13, 2024
It’s been a little over a year since I moved into my new home, and during that time, I’ve been on a journey to develop my personal style. One thing I’ve discovered is my love for earth tones and the art of mixing textiles, prints, and materials. My home is a reflection of who I am—calm yet bold, airy during the day, and moody at night. Through lighting, candles, plants, and art, I’ve been able to create an atmosphere that feels both inviting and dynamic.
Earth Tones & Natural Textures
I’ve always been drawn to the warmth of earth tones. In my dining room, I’ve incorporated natural materials like woven rattan pendant lights that hang gracefully above the table. These lights not only add texture but also bring in a sense of warmth and coziness. The table itself is set with layers of woven placemats, ceramic bowls in rich greens and oranges, and black napkins adorned with beaded tassels. This combination of materials creates an inviting space that feels grounded yet elevated.
The wooden console table in is another example of how I bring nature into my home. Its raw wood finish complements the geometric wall art above it, which features a mix of wood tones and bold black-and-white patterns. These pieces add depth to the space while maintaining an earthy vibe.
Mixing Prints & Patterns
One of my favorite design elements is mixing prints and patterns in unexpected ways. The geometric wall art in my dining room is a perfect example of this. Each piece features a unique design, but together they create a cohesive look that adds visual interest without overwhelming the space. The black-and-white patterns contrast beautifully with the natural wood tones, creating a balance between modern and organic elements.
In my kitchen, I’ve continued this theme by incorporating woven baskets as wall decor. The intricate designs on these baskets add texture while maintaining a neutral color palette that ties back to the rest of the home.
Airy by Day, Moody by Night
One thing I love most about my home is how it transforms throughout the day. During daylight hours, natural light floods the space, giving it an airy and open feel. The large windows reflect off the glassware on my dining table, making everything feel light and fresh.
As night falls, however, my home takes on a completely different vibe. The woven pendant lights cast beautiful shadows across the room, creating a moody ambiance that feels intimate and cozy. I love lighting candles throughout the house to enhance this feeling—whether it’s in the kitchen or dining room, candlelight adds warmth and depth to every corner.
The Power of Plants & Art
Plants play a huge role in bringing life into my space. In both my dining room and kitchen, plants are strategically placed to add freshness and vibrancy. They not only purify the air but also soften the harder lines created by furniture and decor.
Art is another essential element in my home’s design. From geometric wall pieces to woven baskets displayed as art in my kitchen, each piece tells a story and adds personality to the space. I love how these pieces bring together different textures and materials while maintaining an overall cohesive aesthetic.
Final Thoughts
Creating a home that feels both airy during the day and moody at night has been such a rewarding experience. By mixing earth tones with natural textures, incorporating bold prints and patterns, and utilizing lighting to shift the mood from day to night, I’ve been able to create a space that truly reflects who I am.
I hope you enjoyed this glimpse into my home! Stay tuned for more updates as I continue to refine my style and make this space even more reflective of A Rich Soul.
